From Jessica's best friend

Jess and I became instant friends when her step dad and my dad introduced us the summer before third grade.  We were inseparable throughout much of our childhood and I'm lucky to say we remain close friends to this day.  I always wanted to be like her for many reasons.  She is super athletic and was the star on the basketball team from junior high to high school.  I remember being so proud of her after she helped her team win state.  My best friend was a hero to me. She was outgoing and never afraid to talk to anybody which was good for timid little me.  Jess has so many amazing qualities, but if I could describe Jess in one word it would be STRONG.  I have watched her through many heartbreaks throughout her life a few being; the unexpected passing of her step dad, brain surgery, and most recently the pain of infertility and wanting to be a mother more than anything in the world.  I am always amazed how much stronger she has become after each tragic event.  She has always stayed close to the Lord and because of that I know she will be an amazing mother.  She has the ability to survive whatever is thrown her way because Heavenly Father has prepared her well.

Jess and I met Spencer at the very same time.  He was a cute boy from our rival school with an Idaho country drawl.  It didn't take long for Jess and Spencer to become an item.  I can honestly say that even when he was at a crazy high school boy age you could sense his kindness and honesty.  He was and is the most kind person to anyone he meets.  He's the type of person to stop and help someone on the side of the road no matter the inconvenience it would bring him.  I'm sure he has helped others more than anyone will ever hear of because he would never be showy about his service.  He is very talented at redoing and fixing things.  You could say he is a man's man.  With his daughters he will be sensitive and understanding, but will definitely have a shotgun out when the boys start coming around.  Of course I'm half joking, but I can see him being very protective of his little girl.  His sons will go hunting, be taught how to fix cars, and literally learn everything about building a house. I wouldn't be surprised if the girls were taught all those things as well.  I have no doubt any child would grow up the luckiest kid in the world to have both Spencer and Jessica as parents.

My husband and I share the infertility battle with Spencer and Jess.  We adopted our little girl so we have a special connection that not many understand.  Jess and I have had many discussions about adoption so I know that open adoption is something they look forward to.  They are sensitive to the hard decision a mother will make and pray for them even now.  The birth parents of their child will be very loved.

I look forward to the day they are holding a little baby in their arms. No one is more ready to be parents than Spencer and Jess.  I know much of Jessica's family and can already foresee a very loved and spoiled baby who will be welcomed into an awesome extended family.  There will be lots of cousins from both sides of the family and they will always have someone to play with.  If you can't tell. I love these two a lot and pray that their miracle is coming soon!

From Spencer's sister

We live out of town so we don't get to see Spencer and Jessica very often, but anytime we have a family get together my kids always ask, "Where is Spencer and Jessica?" "Are they here yet?" They just get so excited to see them. We love them so much, and know they will be great parents! They want to have a child of their own so much. It must fill like a hole in their heart. A child can fill that hole. They will love him or her with all there whole heart! He or she will come into a large extended family who will love him or her just as much!

From Jessica's sister

Jess is my baby sister and aunt to my 4 angel babies;)….I can’t help but think back to when we were all living at home, and how I ALWAYS used to think, “Kids just love Jess!”. We had many young step-nieces and nephews who adored her. I can honestly say that kids naturally gravitate towards her and Spencer just adds to that charm.:) When my oldest three children were very small, my youngest at the time being only 15 months….Spencer and Jess took on the role of parents for me so we could go on a cruise. They stayed at our house for, what I think must have been 9 days from start to finish, arranged their busy schedules and took immaculate care of our babies. The best thing was, I don’t know if my kids even realized we had been gone! I remember my baby, Chance, had burnt his hand on our fireplace prior to the trip and it needed to be tended to daily. I took great comfort in knowing that Jess was in nursing school and knew she could take care of his little hand and any other emergency that could arise!
I know that it is, understandably, the hardest thing in the world for Jess and Spencer not to have been able to have a family of their own. I know that there is a special little angel who has been waiting for them as much as they have been waiting for he or she. I feel like Spencer and Jess have prepared their whole lives to start, raise, love and nurture an eternal family. I can’t put into words just how treasured a little miracle for them would be.

From Spencer's sister

Well first of all, I LOVE you both!! I"m so grateful that you are in my life. I always remember how nice Spencer was to me growing up. He never teased me or bugged me. He is so loving and caring. I remember one time Spencer and Jessica left their dogs for us to watch and once they left the dogs raced to the door. They would not leave their post until Spencer and Jessica came back. They kept jumping up so they could look out the door window. They whimpered and whined the whole time. They sure missed them and were super excited when they came back. You could tell that they take good care of their dogs and love them very much. I love how they treat their dogs. It just shows how much love they have.

From Spencer's parents

Spencer and Jessica are two of the most kind and compassionate people I know. Spencer has a cousin that is 23 years older than him so he didn't know him very well. His cousin got Leukemia. Even though they didn't know him very well, Spencer and Jessica went and visited him in the hospital. When he was able to get out of the hospital, they took him to dinner. They just took him under their wing. They even had a fund raiser for him and then planned a family dinner for him.

Whatever Spencer and Jessica do, they do it with their whole heart and soul. They give 110%. Jessica is a wonderful nurse and Spencer can do almost anything when it comes to home repairs. They are both very hard workers., but they find the time to help others.

We love them so much!

From Spencer's brother and wife

We know that Spencer and Jess will be amazing parents!! They both have the kindest hearts! Any child will be so lucky to have them as parents. Jess is so kind and always looking out for others! I know she will be an incredible mother and love her kids unconditionally! She has put on some fun parties for our kids to enjoy. She always goes the extra mile! Spencer is so personable. Always willing to step in and help anyone. Spencer is a fantastic uncle and our kids absolutely love him! They are both hard workers!! They believe in what they do and are great at everything they put their minds to! We are so excited for them to have their own family. We know they will be incredible!!!

From Jessica's brother's wife

Jessie and Spencer are the aunt and uncle to my sweet little boys. They are such a strong couple and have so much going for them. They have strong values with a great love for each other, their Savior, and their family. Our nieces and nephews just adore them both! They are so wonderful to them all.

I know they will make such wonderful, caring, loving, and patient parents. Their child will also be adored by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, not to mention wonderful grandparents who would do anything for their grandchildren!! I married into this wonderful family and have been blown away by the love and kindness that is shown by all. This is a wonderfully close family that I am just in awe of every day. Each person is so supportive and there for you at a moments notice. Not only does a child need wonderful parents, which Jessie and Spencer will be, they need love that comes from aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents. My little boys just adore their cousins and talk about their grandma's and grandpa's on a daily basis. Being a mother, this makes me so happy that I know that there are so many people who love and adore my boys in this family!! Your children become your whole world and having such a supportive family unit behind you makes it so much for fulfilling.

I am grateful for Spencer and Jessie's faithfulness and their trust in the Lord. They are an example to us all. I am so excited for the day when we get to meet their little one!!

From Jessica's cousin

Jess is my husband's cousin.  We do not live close enough to see them interact with children on a regular basis, but I do know that Spencer and Jess have an incredible relationship with one another.  I echo Shari (Jessica's mom) in saying that it says a lot about them that they have become closer together during their trial of infertility than falling apart.   A strong bond as husband and wife is evidence that they can endure any hardship that comes their way.  They make a wonderful example to their future children of what a beautiful, real marriage looks like.   I know that Jess and Spencer are people of strong faith and moral courage.  They have huge hearts and would make wonderful, loving parents and would provide a stable, fun, loving home.  We pray that they will be blessed with the opportunity to have a family.  I urge you to consider them as the adoptive parents of your sweet baby.

Sincerely,
Brooke Woolstenhulme

From Jessica's cousin

Jess is my cousin. She was always my role model growing up! She was so kind and nurturing when we were young. Now she is an amazing wife, aunt, cousin and nurse. I have a 3 year old daughter and both Jess and Spencer are so cute with her! My little girl goes on and on about Spencer whenever she sees him. I love them and look forward to the day when they get to become amazing parents too.
Sincerely, Cara Short

From Jessica's Mom

Through the years, I have come to believe that Jessica and Spencer have become soul mates, and I know through this time of tribulation in their life, finding out that they couldn't have children of their own has brought them closer together rather than tearing them apart, and that alone, I think makes them great candidates for parenthood. This has shown me that they will stay together through thick and thin and in todays world that is a rare thing!

Jessica and Spencer have so much love to give, it breaks my heart, to see them with their nieces and nephews, who love them dearly and love to spend time with them. Jess and Spencer spend as much time with them as they possibly can. When they come to the family parties, the kids just run to them and cling to them when they have to leave.

Jess and Spencer have a beautiful home and both have great jobs.  Jessica is a Nurse and Spencer works with Christensen Heating and Electric and is continuing his education. They are financially very capable of taking care of children. Being a Mom myself, and if I had to place a child for adoption, for the child's best interest, Jess and Spencer would be my first choice. They have already worked it out with their work schedule, that one of them would be with the baby all the time. But they have many family members that would love to be able to watch Halford Jr.

I can promise that this baby, that I call Halford Jr. ( Not knowing whether the baby will be a boy or girl) will be LOVED, and brought up to be a great human being, with character, morals and integrity, because these are the traits that they have.

I watched Jessica and Spencer with their little Shih tzu, Paysley. She was almost 5 when they found out that she had kidney failure and they did everything in their power for little Paysley, and when there was nothing left to do for her, but let her go peacefully, they took her to be laid to rest and buried her in their backyard. My heart broke for them, they loved that sweet little dog with all their heart, and they were also going through the pain of finding out they couldn't have children of their own.

One thing I know about Jess and Spencer, when they are blessed with Little Halford Jr., that this baby will be the most Blessed and Loved Baby in the world.

I know it is only a matter of time that Jess and Spencer will be blessed with this child. And I pray everyday that it is soon. We know it's in God's hands, and we are patient because we know it will happen.
